Mosaic Meditations is an 8 week class where we focus on the classical methods of working mosaics. Students have the opportunity to choose an ancient mosaic to replicate, or they may design a mandala pattern and utilize classic methods. No previous experience is needed to attend the class and all skill levels are welcome. If you have experience in working mosaic and would like to attend the class yet work on a different project, there is space for you to do so.
The first day of class will be a lecture on tools and materials. We will choose our designs, substrates, method of working, and our materials. Students will receive a handout covering all materials, supplies and resources.
Our method of working will be in the classic style. Your choices for materials and substrates can be classical or modern. For example, a replication of the duck and lotus mosaic may be created using art glass on glass for a stained glass, modern effect. This gives us lots of room to learn and play.
